Dr. Harvey has the safe and comfortable treatment of your child in mind, with a wide range of methods and treatments available. Dr. Harvey‘s staff is trained specifically to deal with children’s special needs in order to provide the best dental experience possible in our office. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children have a dental examination by their first birthday. Your child can be evaluated at that time, allowing for an individualized preventive program to be planned. As a practice, we strive to provide "dental health care" vs. "disease care". Most dental problems can often be resolved easier if intercepted early, and preventative dental care tends to be less costly. An early start to good dental habits can eliminate problems before they begin. Using standards recommended by the American Dental Association, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Center for Disease Control, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes, in order to protect our patients and ourselves. The comfort and well being of your child is our top priority, our offices are designed and our staff trained with your child in mind. Conscious SedationDr. Harvey is one of a few dentists licensed to give conscious sedation to children during dental treatment. This "twilight" state makes those patients who are more anxious feel relaxed and often they may even forget the entire experience. Conscious sedation may often be helpful during procedures due to a child’s age, a need for extensive treatment, or the child’s inability to fully cooperate with treatment. Dr. Harvey has over 6 years of experience providing children with conscious sedation treatment and is well-trained in conscious sedation techniques. The California State Board of Dentistry has recognized and licensed him as a certified provider of conscious sedation in dentistry. Dr. Harvey uses gentle behavior management techniques in addition to caring sedation options, and offers a variety of treatments that range from preventative treatment to extensive decay rehabilitation. On an individual consultation basis he can also treat special needs patients. Please let us know, in advance, if we should be aware of any special circumstances.
